Weddings

I have been working on various projects the past month as well as battling the old flue.  Some of the stained glass pictures have been framed and hanged and one was gifted.  I will do a follow up post on all of those once they are all done.

I also made 2 more sewing pouches for gifts (this post) and almost finished the 2 playmats I made for our two grandsons as the lockdown levels were eased and I was able to buy all the stuff needed to finish the various projects.

With lockdown phasing out, couples are once again able to get married, so I also made some wedding gifts for friends of mine to gift at a wedding later this month.

The happy couples son will also receive his own towel.

I also played around with different ideas to embroider on masks for another couple, but what started out as a fast little project turned out rather tedious as some of the free designs going around on the internet are of little or no quality at all.  So, after a disaster or two, we finally settled on Mr and Mrs in fancy lettering which quilting friend Hanlie will stitch into masks. 😀

Wedding present

A set of towels embroidered for friends of mine attending a wedding this weekend.  Always a popular choice.

I got so frustrated with myself last night sorting through nearly 1 500 different Alphabet folders to find the one that will do.  That is the problem with having so many designs....  What to choose?

So, I decided I will subdivide it further into categories for babies, children, flowers etc.  Also renaming the folders so that I can see at a glance which contains lower as well as upper case will make a huge difference.  And lastly putting the Windows fonts separate as well as they are utilized with other monograms.

Towels

I can't believe it actually took me the better part of three weeks to finish these towels.  I suppose pushing the sea horses out of the frame after tacking down the applique fabric had something to do with it.  But they are finally done and I am quite happy with them.
The three bathing towels hanging side by side with dolphins, seahorses and whales appliqued above a chevron striped border with a polka dot satin ribbon.

On the guest towel I embroidered cute turtles.

The designs are from A stitch and a half and I just combined the 4x4 and 5x7 sizes into one hooping using Embird embroidery software - the best, most affordable and user friendliest program out there.

Presents

I embroidered presents last week.  First up is a set of towels for a colleague of mine's mother in law who was so kind as to lend her walking frame for my husband after he broke his hip.

I then did a set of kitchen towels with these designs from Loralie designs

and a washcloth.

21st Birthday presents

I started to embroider for the first time in 18 months again and although I was rather out of practice, especially with all the problems one can encounter whilst embroidering, I quickly got the hang of it again.

When a colleague of my at work turned 21 recently,  I was asked to embroider his initials on a set of handkerchiefs.  I used co-ordinating colours which blended in quite nice.

His parents gave his room a makeover, so I decided his bathroom needs one too.  So, I embroidered a set of towels for him.

I used a silver/black mixed metallic thread which co-ordinated with the charcoal towels with just a little bit of silver in the scrolls.

It did not photograph well at all, but the end result in real life is really stunning.  Plain, but beautiful.

Wedding Gift - Embroidered Towels

About the only client I still embroider for, ordered another set of towels for a wedding.  I have done quite a few sets over the last 10 years or so for her and she still adores every set.  I have free reign about what to put on the towels as well as the colours.  For these one's, I used a monogram from Sonia Showalter.

The hand towels and facecloths.

The bath towels

And lastly, the bath sheets.

Wedding present

A colleague at work got married on the 26th of May, in the midst of us working overtime.  As a result I did not manage to finish her present on time.  Herewith some photo's although slightly blurred.

Bathroom make over

After getting out of the bath one too many time without any towels in sight, I decided to embroider our names on it and now my towel stays put.  I embroidered multiple sets for customers over the last 12 years, but never made time for ourselves.  Whilst busy with the towels, I also dressed the windows with new curtains.

Sea Glass design

I was finally able to finish this design and upload it to my store.  I actually embroidered it twice as I entered the first one in the  Sew ...
