Advert Challenge Quilt - Part 2
As I wanted a luxurious look, I used satin fabric in white, black, silver and gold. All the shapes is appliqued to which I added jewels after free motioning the large open areas. I added tassels to the corners to finish it off. The sasching and border was done with a gold on black cotton print.
I bought the jewels all over town to get the correct sizes and colours. All of the blocks was used twice. In most cases I swopped the colours to create a different look every time.

Advert Challenge Quilt - Part 1
I decided to participate in our National Quilt Festival's Challenge competition during one of our Management meetings last year. The rules stated that no quilt related advert could be used. Whilst on holiday during December, I know I had to find an advert. After turning a few pages in about the only magazine in the home, I saw an advert for Nomination jewelry and immediately decided that's the one I'm going to use.
Being a Computer Aided Draughtsperson (CAD Operator) by day, I draw the whole quilt from which I designed the blocks with Sierra Embroidery Software.

As the rules stated that square or rectangular shapes was not permitted, I settled on a diamond shape.
By now, it was already mid March and as D-day is the 1st of May, I concentrated on getting it finished in time.
And this is the end result.
The pattern is available here.
