Although I am constantly busy, I can't write about the project keeping me busy at the moment as it is a surprise! Doing mending is also an ongoing job as everybody knows and can keep one rather busy. But that is not interesting reading or writing material at all!
Since moving back into our house 2 years ago after the fire, I have been in trouble for not getting these curtains up in the lounge. With the arch windows facing west, the setting sun is realy in your face and rather bothersome.
So, I started unpicking the previous curtains to use only the tafetta linings I made at the time. The original black embroidered organza curtains survived the fire and moved to the dining room, but the old gold linings would do just fine, so I did not have to start from scratch.
As I am adament about keeping the shape of the arch windows because it lends caracter to the room, they are specifically made to fit snugly inside the arch. And keeps the sun out of hubby's eyes!

Runners
I embroidered this runner a few years back and finally finished it! I used organza with tafetta at the back - not the easiest fabrics to work with, but I love the way it turned out. The ends is adorned with beautiful beads.

I made the two runners below at the same time, but they were sadly lost in our house fire of August 2014.

Unfinished objects
The past week I manage to finish 2 projects.
The first is a rough edge tray cloth I started way back in 2012 during one of our quilting group's monthly meetings. I finish stitching it September 2015 except for the binding. Although the fabric was not enough for the binding, I added 2 co-ordinating colours and just love the way it turned out:
Then I finished a handbag made of rope covered by fabric. I used leftover fabric from various quilts. I started this project September 2015.
I even stitched 2 place mats from the leftover rope.
Hopefully I will continue finishing up UFO's. It is really a bad habit not completing projects. And they accumulate so fast...

Spit Cloths
I have been embroidering spit cloths again for friends of mine.
The first one with a penguin from Anita Goodesign
and another with the elephant I bought at Appliquetion Station - I am totally in love with him!

I also embroidered two beautiful rabbits from the Bountiful Bunnies set of Dream Designs. You can get the collection here.
I love using variegated thread, but was really disappointed with McKenzie's colour mix. Should have tested beforehand...
Lastly I embroidered a cute duck from the Suzy Zoo set of Bernina.

Block a Day Quilt
It's been 18 months since I last wrote about this quilt... I have been working on the blocks though the whole of 2016 and managed to finish embellishing all of them. I'm just busy quilting them by hand. But another four are finally fnished.

Baby Stuff
During the holidays, I embroidered some baby spit cloths for colleagues of my husband, Trevor, who was blessed with twin daughters.
The theme was elephants and I used this beautiful elephant design I initially bought for a baby quilt a few months back from Appliquetion Station, changing the outline colours.
Below is a photo of the same design on the baby quilt. I just added some clouds:
I then continued with this design from Hatched in Africa:
Then I did two for a friend of mine who's son will soon be the father to Naveah:
