2016's Quilting Project - Free Motion

Whilst deciding what our quilting group was going to do as a project for the year, I remembered this project of mine stuffed in a drawer for almost 20 years.

 

I originally wanted to make a carpet but after discovering that the fabric I bought was too dense, I gave up and put it away.  It took about a week of drawing the pattern and I was not about to throw it away.

 

As the fabric was already partially damaged in the centre, it was decided to use applique to cover it up.  The rest will just be stitched in a dark grey with tone on tone free motion in the open areas.



 

Casper kept me company although he decided to lay on top of the fabric making it impossible to move it at all!  He is 17 years old, outlived our house fire of 2014 and stayed alone at the damaged house for 6 months! So, I guess - he is allowed!

Panda Bear Cushions

My mother asked me to make 2 more of these panda bear cushions I wrote about in this post.

 



Since then our house burned and it was sadly put on the back burner.  But with her upcoming birthday, I decided there is no better time to get this over and done with.

 

It felt really good to gave them to her this afternoon on her 78th birthday.

 

Shades of Red - Block 1

I am working on a project I fell in love with a few years ago.  But, as it is not my design, I can't sell the pattern.  I am however selling the different elements I designed using my own cliparts.

Although the fabric I used had dots on it, I added beads on top of it.

Advanced Beginners Quilt - Finished!

My 2015 project is finished!  I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed making this beauty.

Using satin and taffeta was quite a challenge but well worth in the end.

The striped border and corner blocks.

Wedding cushions

I've been working on these cushions as well the last month.  This was however a team effort as I asked one of my quilting buddies, Magda du Plesssis, to help me with the stitching of the cushions and she did a terrific job.  They look stunning!

Crown catering ordered these sets in white only as they are in high demand with their clients.

The complete set  - 2 kneeling cushions with the ring cushion.
