I have been extremely busy working on a quilt for our festival. I am participating in the Challenge competition. I will write about it further in future.
The quilt I wrote about in this post won a 3rd prize at our anual show. Working towards a prize was the furthest thing from my mind whilst making it.

The Art of Quilting Sampler Quilt - Blocks 25-28
After having yet again major problems with our internet and numerous calls, a technician was finally send out last week and it looks like the problem was finally fixed. I am completely finished with our current service provider. Now if only I could get them to cancel the current contract, I can migrate the line to another service provider. This process is ongoing for the last month already and yet again, nothing is happening.
That said and done, I stitched another 4 blocks of this quilt. The next four issues is again way overdue. Africa time.

Innovative Quilt
Seven of our group members (Rotary Cutters) started an Innovative Quilt as our project for 2013 at home of one of our Guild's teachers, Iessie Steenberg (read her blog here) at the end of January. Iessie prepared 4 different patterns from which we could choose. Two florals, one with butterflies and one with owls.
After struggling to decide between the butterflies and owls, I asked my husband to choose and he picked the owls. The first block look likes this after appliqueing.
Now for the real hard work, adding embroidery, beads, crystals, ribbons etc.

Charity Quilt - Part 4
The Charity Quilt (read this post) did not get finished last year as we had hoped. We are currently busy stitching all the blocks together and is trying to get it finished in time for the annual Show (Fair).
Sonja and Jolita of our group stitched these 9 patches as one of our former group members, Natasha moved to Centurion before her blocks was done.
These applique blocks was Jolita Geel's contribution. She is also going to free motion the quilt for us. Unfortunately, she has since decided to leave our group. Although we share the same very rare surname, we are not family.

The last 4 blocks was done by Sonja Snyman.
The completed quilt is going to be a real beauty.

Thumb pincushion etc.
At one of our Guild's quarterly meetings last year, kits for making a thumb pincushion was handed out as gifts to all attending. Whilst on holiday during December, it was one of the projects I finished.
I could not remember the instructions and asked my good friend Google. If you want to make one as well, you can get the step-by-step instructions at Annies Crazy World.

During October 2011, I attended a Quilt and Craft Fair hosted by the Needles and Pins of our Guild (read this post). Inside my Goody Bag I found a prize ticket for a Fabric Origami Bookmark which looks like this:
As a lot of effort has gone into preparing these kits, the least one can do is to take the time to make it.

The Art of Quilting Sampler Quilt - Blocks 22-24
After all the previous hick ups, this quilt is now moving forward at a steady pace. Sasching of the first 20 blocks is done and 6 blocks are already stitched together.
Blocks 25-28 arrived yesterday and I just finished cutting all the templates. This means that the quilt top is nearly 33% done.

Candlewick Embroidery
I've found these embroidered Candlewick pieces between my mother-in-law's stuff when she died in 2007 and finally finished them.
The cream and peach one's was converted to pillowcases.
I framed the blue and pink pieces and add ribbon and lace to finish them off.
Another unfinished project finished.
