Granny's kitchen

I fell in love with this design from Kreative Kiwi Embroidery (which is currently on sale for $1.50) and decided to stitch a Granny to hang on the kitchen door to symbolize Granny's Kitchen.

It was such a joy to bring this beauty to life by playing with different fabrics and lace.  She was done in 6 hoopings and is 60cm tall.  She is completely reversible with different embellishments added on each side.

Another Bubble quilt done

I received an order for a bubble quilt with butterflies and finished it today, ready to be delivered.

And so on to the next one. 😃

First order delivered

While I was stitching a pink bubble puffed quilt to put up for sale, it was immediately snatched up by a dear and loving family member who is constantly helping young people in need.  She also ordered four spit cloths and as I had some pockets left over from the quilt, I sewed them into a little cushion.

On the back I used a bright printed heart fabric with the same message I put on the blue bubble quilt.

Below are the spit cloths.  I embroidered little fairy dolls on each.

Monogram for Apron

On Monday, a friend of mine asked if I would be able to embroider a monogram on the pocket of an apron for a kitchen tea which was held today.  As I am not currently working it was no problem at all.  I used the Novelty font of Ageless Embroidery which was offered as a free font in 2013 - 2014.

I received some of the fabric as well and was able to use the same colors in the flowers.  I was asked to embroider it 15cm high and immediately thought about Ageless designs as they offer their monograms in really big sizes.

And this is the gorgeous apron.  Really beautiful.  If it were mine, I would never use it for messy kitchen work. 😀  A real lucky bride to receive such a thoughtful gift.

Log cabin bag

I bought the kit for this bag way back in 2017 and finally made the time to stitch it.

I just love the fabric, pumpkins and sunflowers, and adorned the bag with likewise buttons.

I used some of the 1 000 decorative stitches on my Brother Innovis instead of stitch in the ditch to quilt the bag.

The beautiful fabric.

This bag will come in quite handy when travelling.

Delectable Mountains

At the Oranje quilters Guild Spring Stitch Day on the 15th of October, teacher Annie du Toit taught us how to make a beautiful table topper called Delectable Mountains.

Different layouts can be used when stitching the minute 1 & 1/8th strips together.  Below is Annie's layout.

This was a most enjoyable project which went together rather fast with not too many seams to match.

Bubble/Puff/Biscuit Quilt

When I suddenly found myself without any work to do, I started working on this quilt which will be for sale.

I saw this type of quilt a few years back and always wanted to stitch one, so when I had this extra time on my hands, this was the first project that came to mind.

I stitched 121 x 4.5" blocks and used the Trip around the World layout.  The completed quilt measures 44" (110 x 110cm).

On the back I used a baby print and a label with a special message.

Casserole Carrier

At our October meeting, our quilting group made casserole carriers.

The carrier all opened up.

The inside flaps closed.

The carrier closed up and ready for the road.

This was a really fast project to sew.

Teddy Bears

As part of our Oranje quilters guild outreach program, we donate teddy bears to one of our local hospitals annually.  Great was my surprise when I discovered that I could stitch up 10 different bears with all the embroidery designs I have.  I bought some polar fleece and started stitching and thoroughly enjoyed the process.

All the bears were made in the hoop with the only hand stitching being done was closing up the opening where the bears were stuffed.

The teddy bear on the left is from Bee Stitchin Embroidery , the centre one is from Baby Embroidery Shop and Little Ted on the right is a free design from Kreative Kiwi Embroidery

These 2 beauties are also available for free from Kreative Kiwi Embroidery

Boy and girl teddy bears from Oma's Place

Ofnah's bear

This adorable bear is from the big footed collection of Dolls and Daydreams

and last but not least, this beautiful Flower Teddy from Louisa Meyer Originals which I embroidered on bridal satin.

This was so much fun.

Ironing mat / carry bag

During August's group meeting of our quilting group, we made a carry bag for our iron which, when opened up, convert into an ironing mat, perfect for going to classes, retreats etc.

The bag

My cute little travel iron

Snug as a bug inside the carry bag.

And opened up

The inside

and the outside.

Above is a photo of my different irons depicting just how small the traveling iron is.

I decorated my bag with some buttons of which I have loads.  Below are my containers containing all my embellishments, the top one for beads, buttons etc. the next one lace, ribbon etc. and the bottom big one packed with fat quarters.

I do not have a big stash of fabrics as I usually only buy fabric per project.

This was a very satisfying project as I only had to add the binding and buttons after our group meeting.  Not another UFO in the making.

Now on to making some teddy bears for our guild's end of the year outreach.

Scrap quilt 3

The quilt is finished well in advance of the end of October and I am pretty pleased with the outcome. I was able to construct a border out of the scraps as well.

The jacket I wrote about in this post, is finally complete and I am really happy with the final product.
